The Latest and Greatest around EMBSA

***ATTENTION: EMBSA has POSTPONED All League Activities**

 June 20, 2020

Hello everyone,
This is an important reminder that our Field Complex is CLOSED and as such, there is NO practice or games permitted.  We also received a notice from the East Meadow School District advising us of an instance where an East Meadow team was practicing at Woodland MS which is also not permitted.
We ask all of you to please comply with these closure rules for our fields as well as the East Meadow school fields and we thank you for your patience as we get ready to reopen in July.
If you have any questions, please email us at: info@embsa.net.  Thank you and please continue to be safe and healthy.

June 16th:

Hello everyone,
We hope this message finds all of you well and healthy.  The health crisis has improved significantly such that Long Island entered Phase 2 and has had talks of restarting organized sports such as ourselves.  We are hoping to reopen at the beginning of July; the exact date is still to be determined by the Town of Hempstead.
Our intent is to play the spring season over our summer program which typically starts after the July 4th holiday.  For all of you who are registered and intend to play, no action needed.  However, if you are going away and cannot play, then please email us at: registration@embsa.net before June 26th.  If you know of anyone else who would like to play, have them register online at www.emll.siplay.com and register for the SPRING session.
EMBSA as a whole is working on safety measures in accordance with CDC guidelines to help keep everyone safe.  We expect to communicate that out shortly.
If you have any questions, please email us at: info@embsa.net.  Thank you for your patience and please continue to be safe and healthy.

Commissioner

Congratulations Brendan Wilkowski - 2020 East Meadow High School Salutatorian!!

EMBSA tips their caps to Brendan Wilkowski as he is this year's East Meadow High School Salutatorian!  Brendan had played with East Meadow Little League from Tball through Senior League and is currently a member of the EMBSA youth umpire crew.  EMBSA is very proud of Brendan's accomplishments and wishes him much success as he enters the next important chapter of his life at Yale.  Way to Go Brendan!!

As seen in the East Meadow Patch: https://patch.com/new-york/eastmeadow/east-meadow-announces-top-students-class-2020

East Meadow High School salutatorian Brendan Wilkowski boasts an impressive record of academic and extracurricular achievements, as well. During his high school career, he received a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, a near-perfect score of 1590 on the SAT, and was awarded the George Washington University Engineering Medal and a National Merit Scholarship Corporation Scholarship. He was named a NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete from his freshman through junior years and was on the honor roll every quarter throughout his high school career. Similarly, he was also awarded the NYPD Scholarship and the 2020 NYU Winthrop Hospital Sports Medicine Scholarship while also being a semifinalist in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Brendan belonged to several honor societies in high school, including the National Honor Society, for which he was a board member, and the Math, Science, Social Studies, English and Spanish honor societies. As a student-musician, he was an All-County trombonist and head of the brass ensemble in the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Outside of the classroom, he worked at CAPE and umpired youth softball and baseball for the East Meadow Little League.

Combining his leadership skills and altruism, Brendan formed his own free tutoring organization called Supreme Test Prep. In addition, he spent many hours performing community service at Hope Fitness, a fitness center for disabled adults. Lastly, he was a tour guide at the Center for Science Teaching and Learning and volunteered at various charitable walks, including those for ALS and breast cancer.

Brendan's favorite high school memory is being named "Most Likely to Succeed" at the Senior Banquet. "This feat meant a great deal to me because I felt that I had truly made an impact on those around me and that they thought highly of me," he said.

Even though he was not able to share the last few weeks of high school with his classmates, Brendan wants his peers to recognize their importance at this pivotal time in history. "As we each head out on different paths in life, it is important to remember that we will be shaping the course of history," he said. "We have the ability to truly improve this world as we progress in life, whether that be in small showings of affection or large discoveries."

Brendan will attend Yale University in the fall, where he will major in biomedical engineering and economics.
